Your First Million

Venture Capitalist, Arlan Hamilton interviewing media mogul Issa Rae at Your First Million Live in Los Angeles, CA

There is no arguing that making your first million in business is a major achievement. Arlan Hamilton helped set the tone of success, community and education no matter where you are in business at her first conference, Your First Million Live.

The lineup of speakers was phenomenal! There were so many leaders under one roof like Issa Rae, Rachel Rodgers, Dean Forbes, Teri Ijeoma, Paul Rich, MzSkittlez, Sheila Johnson, and many others!

With so much amazing content, here are 3 takeaways I gathered from this event:

  • maintaining integrity - growing a business sculpts entrepreneurs! What I gleamed from Arlan and her network is they each have chiseled into the best versions of themselves through trail and error. throughout all obstacles they have maintained a level of integrity that proceeds. Given this was Arlan’s platform she received a lot of recognition for all the amazing work and philanthropy she does, that never sees the light of day. From these examples, it reinforces the importance of leading a purpose-driven business and operate in integrity.

  • cultivating rich relationships - the list of speakers for this conference spoke highly of Arlan. It showed she has a camp of influential support. Nearly every guest made mention of the brain trust they’ve created amongst one another. As we grow in business it is critical to lean into your network and also share knowledge with others. Those relationships become the building blocks to greater. Case in point, the beautiful network of women in our group for this conference was aligned so well. We each brought something to the table and poured into each other with resources and information.

  • invest wisely - be a good steward of your time, money and energy. Each factor is commodity to your well-being and the growth of your business.

  • bonus: black women operate in excellence - this conference brought out such a diverse, melting pot of people. However, one thing is for sure, black women showed up! It was beautiful to see even with so many walks of life, black women were the majority. And we were connecting, sharing resources and having game-changing intellectual conversations.

A huge thank you to Rachel Rai Henry CEO of Creative Flow School for placing my name in rooms before I walk-in them. It was because of her generous and intentional spirit that I received a pass to this event. Rachel is truly a beacon for leadership development and alignment. To further celebrate her, she hosted a post conference mixer sponsored by HRUprise and represented by CEO Rebecca Weaver. Let me just say it was well attended and filled with passion-led leaders.

Another heartfelt thank you to serial entrepreneur, Aneesa Getaneh for being the best LA tour guide and friend. So glad we got to experience this together.

Arlan + Team thank you for everything. There was so much more that went into this multi-day event. These are just highlights that are serving me in my current season of business.

I’ll be sharing a vlog on YouTube soon on my experience.
